Portraits & Others in Oil

Since my Art Studies at HAW Hamburg, Germany approximately 30 years ago I have been working as an artist.

I paint mainly portraits and figures.

Generally I make a sketch of my model before starting to paint. My interest lies in the appearance and psyche of my model. Dialogue between my model and myself are pivotal to my being able to capture the model from inside and out. Technically I use oil on canvas to convey what I see and feel in my model.

My portraits range from realistic to abstract.

As a sideline, I paint from reading literature. For example, I paint charactisations of fairy tale figures, or characters mainly from German literature. These works are, naturally, less a painting of what I see and feel, but a different creative process resulting from the impression of what I read.
